My announcement...if you don't already know

NEWSFLASH: Chelsea (check out her market pics too) said I have some juicy news, so I guess I better give it.
It's really not that interesting... only to me I think. But here's the scoop:

After a
lot of long, drawn-out thought and discussion, I have decided to change fabric companies. (big sigh...moments of dread...followed by moments of great anticipation and relief)

I know that there are going to be lots of people who won't understand why I would ever want to leave Moda. I do understand why they would wonder that.

It's certainly not that there was a problem with anyone there...they were all wonderful and kind and friendly to me. My design director is a wonderful person, who is super talented and on the ball. She saw something in me, and gave me a shot in a very competitive industry, and allowed me a chance to get my feet wet, so to speak. I really appreciate her for that! (I think I'll probably have to name one of my grandchildren after her now!)

The bottom line is that I didn't feel like it was a true fit for me, for a number of reasons. I won't bore you with those, you have better things to do with your time!
Suffice it to say I have moved to a smaller, much younger company by the name of Riley Blake!!
I am really excited to be a part of their new, up-and-coming company, and to be involved in the enthusiasm they have for what they are doing! There is a great feeling of mutual respect and support, as well as a desire to try new things and be aggressively proactive in the pursuit of all the great opportunities and avenues this industry can provide. They are warm, friendly, open to my ideas, totally excited to have me there, and full of new-blood enthusiasm and a willingness to learn and grow. It feels really great!

Here are some pics of Riley Blake's awesome booth from market...(that I had to steal from their blog ...thanks girls!)

Just wanted you to know about all of that...and to be looking for my new line with Riley Blake, which will be shown at the October Quilt market in Houston. I'll be giving you little sneak peeks as things progress!
It's a new look for me, and I hope you will like it as much as I do!

So that's the news...Go check out Riley Blake's website and see what's going on there!

(Scroll up for my market pics)

Love ya,

Congratulations! You should just upload straight in Blogger - why are you going through photobucket? I've always wondered why people do that. It seems like an extra step...? Anyway, good luck getting it to work, and congrats again!

awesome Lila...I thought I saw you near the Riley booth at market and my first thought was "she's switching"...and that's cool.
'cause otherwise you would have to keep doing the same stuff over and over again. Don't get me wrong, I love Moda, however, their trend has always been designers sticking to their assigned theme like Me and My sister is always brights, Minick and Simpson is patriotic R, W and Blue etc. So cool for you...can't wait til fall!

That is so GREAT! I went to market with just a passing interest in Riley Blake, and then pretty near bought every line they had. Unexpectedly. Not in the budget, but Oooooooh, so worth it! I LOVE THEM! Congratulations! - Ari (Buttercuppity)

Hi Lila. Congrats! Makes total sense to me. I am a new designer (hope to meet you sometime) and signed with a small company although I had lots of offers from the bigger ones. I understand that you have to feel it. Plus, it's Riley Blake, which is going so big-time now! I have a tutorial on their blog at the moment.

Oh how exciting...I LOVE Riley Blake! And yes, I think that is a better fit for your style. Not saying that I don't like Moda...I LOVE Moda as well but I see your designs fitting in more perfectly with Riley Blake's company. Congratulations! Can't wait to see your new line!

Wow! Big news indeed. I absolutely love Riley Blake! They are a wonderful bunch of people, and I can see why you would want to change over to them. I'm really excited to see what you are doing for the Fall. It was so fun seeing you and your sister and niece at market. Good luck with all your endeavors.

We currently carry your fabric in our store and love Moda, but I must say you are a perfect fit for Riley and Blake! Of all the companies at market this spring, R&B was the most innovative with their cross merchandising. The matching ribbon, buttons, zippers, ric rac...OMG I was in HEAVEN! I am so excited to see what you come up with!

Well you have thrown me for a loop ~ for days now actually. My daughter and I are opening a new store and I thought for many reasons it would be easier to be all Moda - can't really go wrong right? But then I keep running into Riley Blake. Everywhere I turn, I am falling in love with RB fabric. This post just confirms it I guess. I can't imagine our shop without Lila Tueller. I better head on over to RB and set up an account. btw, we can't wait for Spirit. The patterns have already arrived which makes the wait even harder. Best of luck in your new endeavors. Can't wait to see what's coming.
