My New Beautiful Blog!

My new friend April Rosenthal noticed that my blog was a mess, and offered to help! I sent her a simple logo, and one of my newest designs, and look what she did!!! She fixed it all up and made it look fabulous, and I couldn't be more pleased!!!

Once I get her permission I'll add her contact information here so anyone else who has blog design woes can get her help too!

Update: she said I could plug her link, so here it is!

Oh...I am so sorry for being a bad blogger! Not that you can't function just fine without my posts...haha. I just feel bad that I haven't got a single thing to blog about! Work work and more work. That's all it is. Nothing cool, nothing spectacularly wonderful.
Oh wait...but... school will be starting soon, and my last child is going to be in 1st grade!!!! DO YOU UNDERSTAND WHAT THAT MEANS???

"nuff said."

Take er easy...

Thanks for your comments!

I have made a few changes to the print (scroll down to previous post), thanks to some of your constructive criticism! (You were all wonderful to comment, and I truly value your opinions!)

But then I went on a little getaway BY MYSELF...up to Midway, Utah. It's a lovely little hideaway called The Homestead, tucked away into the mountains. (The pictures of the flowers above are from the grounds.) It was established in 1886 or something like that, around a natural hot spring. I brought my computer and my tablet and tools, set them up in my room, and went at it.

I did it because I have been surrounded by family for weeks now, which is great, but hasn't helped much in the area of creativity! I just needed to concentrate for a couple of days, with no interruptions. It was really restful for me, and I got a LOT done. My husband made all of the arrangements for me, and took care of the kids. Can't tell you how much I needed that.

Well, one of the things I created was a new main print for this collection. I may still use the one you've seen, (new and improved) either as a companion print, or in another collection entirely. But I am going to keep most of this newest one a secret for now. (Here's a couple of snippets)

It was really interesting to see how well I work in a controlled environment. I found that I could work for 5 or 6 hours straight without so much as eating or using the bathroom! I would just put my music on and get into the ZONE.

I did take a 2 hour break once on day two and hit the pool with a good book. It was really hot, and the water was perfect. But then...back to work! (I love my job...couldn't be better suited to me.) Then I would take a long walk in the evening when it cooled down for an hour or so, and then back to work for a couple of hours before going to bed. It was wonderful! So peaceful! The moment I got home we had to pack up for a camping overnighter for my husband's mom's 80th birthday celebration. That's her in the green jacket. Isn't she adorable???

It was fun, too in a different way! I did the zipline a few times, tried out my archery skills, played some volleyball, (my favorite sport), and slept on the ground with all my kids (the ones that live at home.)

So now I'm back at home, and playing a little catch up...with housework and "work" work. But it's all good, and these times are what makes life worthwhile!

Hope you are enjoying yours, too!

New Colorway Happenings

This is the first of many to come, but I thought you might want to see what I've been up to. Designing fabric is fun, but I don't get much sleep. I was up till 4 last night, and 3:45 the night before that. It's the only time I can be alone with my thoughts and my sketchpad.

Here is a sneek peek of what I'm working on now. This is Fall, 2010. My deadline is fast approaching...hense the late nights!

Tell me what you think! (Even if you don't care for it!)

This is the main print for the group. It's bigger than it looks.

I'm trying to blend the two colorways together... I think it works so far...
Here it is in yellow and pink.

What do you think??

Cali to see Halle (again)

Babies in sunhats...why do I live in Utah???

(Natalie and Halle , Newport Beach, July 4th, 2009)

Well friends, It's good to be home, but it would have been great to have stayed a little longer! The beach at Malibu is still calling me, and I am left to close my eyes and pretend I'm still there. It was a wonderful, short trip to see my little Halle Rose! It's true she was here in Utah to visit me only a couple of weeks ago, but Grandmas can never get enough!

This is little Halle wearing the Santorini skirt I made for her. (She's also a sucker for jewelry...had to be wearing a necklace whenever possible.)

Kissing cousins?!? (How cute is that?) This is Halle and her little cousin Carson, sharing a smooch! Or is it Tyler? I could never tell, they are the most identical twins I have ever seen!

Girls having fun in the sun...Halle would run straight for the water. No fear at all. She would get knocked over by the waves, get completely submerged, and come up laughing and choking...not one bit scared. We had to watch her like a hawk!

Malibu Beach, July 6
Oh, it was sweet.

But, alas, I am home again, and back in the proverbial saddle/computer chair! (No picture of that, thankfully.)

Why oh why does time have to fly when you are having fun???
Who made that rule?
(We need to talk, him and me. And not just about that.)

...Hope your summer is sweet too.
