Honesty Tagged!

Will Spring EVER come???

I was tagged by Chelsea Andersen of Pink Fig Patterns:
So now I have to tell you 10 honest things about me:

1. I was the 6th child in a family of 9 children. My sixth child nearly died in childbirth. (1998).There was an extremely urgent emergency c-section, without anesthesia. Yes, you read that right.
It's long story, and I guess I could have sued, but I'm just glad my baby girl made it through alive. I'm also glad I made it through alive!
2. I had a near death experience in 2004. Sudden death: It was intense, and really amazing! I am now greatful for every single day...make that moment of my life.
3. My closest brother died in a hiking accident in 2003. I miss him a lot. He lived life the way it should be lived!
4. My mother contracted German measles when she was 3 months pregnant with me. I should be blind or deaf or mentally retarded. Some people still think that last one might actually be the case! I'm pretty sure I can blame all of my flaws on this occurrence.
5. I was married when I was 18 years old, (don't try that at home, please!), had my first child when I was 20, and my seventh child when I was 42. (Don't try that either!)
6. I had a large mole removed from the end of my nose when I was 22.( see #4) Why did I wait till then???
7. My hands look just like a man's hands. I think I may truly be part man. (Once again, see #4.)
8. I am a HUGE fan of diet coke. I know, I know. It's terrible for me! Can't help it.
9. If I am not creating something, I am TERRIBLY bored and grumpy.
10. I was named after my great Aunt Lila who's birthday is the same as mine, and who I take after in many other ways. I had to be born two weeks late to accomplish this feat. I've only met 3 other Lila's in my whole life.

Now I have to tag 7 more blogs. Hmmm...that's gonna take some thought! Hang on...

Getting Ready for Spring Market with a Fall Collection: Santorini

Time is FLYING by...and I can't find enough hours in the day, or night for that matter, to get everything done! I admit to taking a few days off to visit my little Halle Rose for Valentine's Day/First Birthday, but I really, really needed that little break.
Anyway, I'm just scrambling now to get back in the groove so that everything is ready for Spring Market. A while back I had a little contest to guess what my inspiration was for the next line. It was a short lived contest, (haha!) but I haven't mentioned much about that collection since. That's because I wanted to keep it quiet until it was done.
It's a fall line, and I'm pretty excited about it! I will be showing this collection along with my new and older patterns at the spring quilt market in May. It will be available in September (!), which seems like a long ways off, doesn't it? But I also know how fast time goes by!
The next collection after that will have the birds I showed you in the last post, among other things. That's how far in advance this industry works! So weird.

Anyway, this here (below), is a little sneak peek of Santorini! (Just a few of the 31 prints in this collection.) The colors are a mix of rich olive greens, warm pinks, deep purples, golden yellows and oranges, with cream and deep warm brown as the contrast.

I hope it will be fun and colorful to sew with for fall!

Egg Update

Hmmm...I'm not sure what to think. There are still only 4 eggs, and nothing is happening. Maya doesn't sit on them anymore, and she won't even sleep in the nest. I'm starting to wonder if she is one of those dead-beat Moms! She's not acting very maternal...and I wonder if the eggs will even hatch now, since they're probably really cold.

Shame on you Maya! I was really looking forward to some baby birds. Oh well...I guess you can't force these things! I have read that Finches are notorious for being bad parents.

Anyway, I have been inspired non-the-less to put birds in my next line of fabric. I know birds have kind of been "done" already, but mine are different. Besides...I have a good reason.
Here's a little sneak peek.

It's definitely a Spring collection...hope you will like it!

My niece Chelsea Andersen and I have been asked to feature our patterns in the European magazine Quiltmania! We are really excited, and honored to have our patterns advertised in such a reputable publication! Here are some results of the photo shoot showing Chelsea's clothing designs and my quilt design, done in my new line of Fabric, "Soire'e", which is shipping to stores next week! (Thanks, Lily for being so darn cute! Can I have your hair?)

The Fourth Egg Has Been Laid

What am I going to do with all of these when they are BIRDS??
