Meryl Streep is a genius

Meryl Streep in her stunning portrayal in the movie...

The real Julia Child wisking away...

and with her rolling pin collection.

Hey!...Has anyone gone to see the new movie out called Julie and Julia? It is about Julia Child, the late french-cooking maven, and about a contemporary Julie who was a little obssessed with her. I went to the Friday matinee, and I though it was so good! Meryl Streep plays Julia Child, and she absolutely NAILS it with her complete transformation into the Julia Child I used to watch on television when I was a teenager, doing her cooking show: "The French Chef".

I think one of the things I loved the most about this movie is the way it portrayed Julia Child and her husband Paul, and the wonderful supportive relationship they appeared to have. They were married for like 50 years or something, and both lived to be over 90 years old. (So much for butter clogging your arteries!) I loved the way he encouraged her and accepted her and loved her just the way she was. It is a tender romance and an inspiration to anyone who has a dream, and who works hard to achieve it.

Anyone who walks away from this movie uninspired and unimpressed by the talented actors must have been either asleep through the whole thing, or completely blind and deaf.
Let's just say I highly recommend it!

I downloaded an actual clip of the real Julia Child from her program called "Julia Child and Company". I just had to share it with you. I love how she talks, and the way she clearly loves what she does.

I saw this movie late last night - by myself, no hubby, no kids, only 7 people in the theatre. It was 2 hours of pure bliss! Such a wonderful movie, and you are spot on with your observations :)

Oh, oh, oh!!! I have been dying to see this movie and DH and I finally were able to play hooky from life and kids today to make it to a matinee. Then I logged on to your blog and... here it is again in all it's glory!

All I can say is, ahhhhhhhh.... and congratulations to all those 10 year overnight successes out there! "Anything can happen if you let it!"

Love you, George

yes, I went last week with my DH and college age daughter and we all loved it. DD is a serious budding cook! Make me want to go dig out Julia's cookbook and de-bone a duck (not really)

PS waiting for Santorini!

I've been trying to get to this movie since it came out. I love the fact that her story is even being told and wouldn't she be thrilled too?! In this day and age I think it's wonderful.
