I have made a few changes to the print (scroll down to previous post), thanks to some of your constructive criticism! (You were all wonderful to comment, and I truly value your opinions!)
But then I went on a little getaway BY MYSELF...up to Midway, Utah. It's a lovely little hideaway called The Homestead, tucked away into the mountains. (The pictures of the flowers above are from the grounds.) It was established in 1886 or something like that, around a natural hot spring. I brought my computer and my tablet and tools, set them up in my room, and went at it.
I did it because I have been surrounded by family for weeks now, which is great, but hasn't helped much in the area of creativity! I just needed to concentrate for a couple of days, with no interruptions. It was really restful for me, and I got a LOT done. My husband made all of the arrangements for me, and took care of the kids. Can't tell you how much I needed that.
Well, one of the things I created was a new main print for this collection. I may still use the one you've seen, (new and improved) either as a companion print, or in another collection entirely. But I am going to keep most of this newest one a secret for now. (Here's a couple of snippets)

It was really interesting to see how well I work in a controlled environment. I found that I could work for 5 or 6 hours straight without so much as eating or using the bathroom! I would just put my music on and get into the ZONE.
I did take a 2 hour break once on day two and hit the pool with a good book. It was really hot, and the water was perfect. But then...back to work! (I love my job...couldn't be better suited to me.) Then I would take a long walk in the evening when it cooled down for an hour or so, and then back to work for a couple of hours before going to bed. It was wonderful! So peaceful! The moment I got home we had to pack up for a camping overnighter for my husband's mom's 80th birthday celebration. That's her in the green jacket. Isn't she adorable???
It was fun, too in a different way! I did the zipline a few times, tried out my archery skills, played some volleyball, (my favorite sport), and slept on the ground with all my kids (the ones that live at home.)
So now I'm back at home, and playing a little catch up...with housework and "work" work. But it's all good, and these times are what makes life worthwhile!
Hope you are enjoying yours, too!

OMG! I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE what I'm seeing of the main print!!! I wouldn't change a THING about that one!!!! I'm glad you got to get away for a little while! It is great to have a little time to yourself, especially when you have a good sized family (I know... including my two step sons who lived with us since my hubby and I got married, and are now adult, I have 7 kids as well) : ) I love reading your blog!! And your patterns and fabric are SOOO lovely!
I'm a huge fan of this main print - just gorgeous! Keep up the great work. X Amelia
The new designs are yummy. It was fun, you being brave and putting your process out there for us to invest ourselves in too!! We will all be waiting anxiously for your finished product.
What a thoughtful husband you have Lila. It's good to see he's looking after you.
The new main fabric is sweet, love the colour combo, and your mother inlaw is NO WAY 80. A happy birthday to her.

The new prints are absolutely gorgeous, it shows that you enjoyed doing them a lot more. I think you got your groove back! Looking forward to seeing the full collection, well done!
I can't add to the other comments, they cover it all, I'll definitely be looking out for this collection! And I'll be able to look at it and remember your little creative "holiday", and know that it was created with such joy.
Oh my stars! What a beautiful snippet of your new masterpiece. I'm really excited for this to come out-thank so much for sharing!
No way can that woman be 80 years old! She honestly doesn't look any older than her son and I would looove to know how she does it!! If she has a secret I want to know what it is.

Yup! This was the right move! Nice work! Love the bee, love the movement of your flowers, colorway, and just a suggestion..... blow it up, frame it and put it in your family room! It totally goes with your aqua celing!

Wow! I LOVE this, Lila! Everything about it is just perfection. I really love the 70's vibe and the gorgeous flowers. Glad you were able to get some alone time to focus soley on your work...it shows. I know this one will be a big hit for you!
Yummy! I love it.
It's definitely coming along! A few questions: What programs do you use for your designing, and also, are you a mac or a pc girl? Just curious. :)
Hi April...I use Paint shop Pro, just necasue I know it, and it's user friendly. I am a PC girl, for the same reasons. But I design first on paper...it just works better for me, since I was a painter first.
Lila,
My best friend and I are coming to BYU next week for a family history conference. We love your fabric and patterns and were wondering if you could tell us the best quilt shops to visit while we are in Utah. You can e-mail me directly at birdie1056@aol.com. Thanks so much!
