Howdy all! I hope life has been relaxing and pleasant for everyone this past week...I know mine hasn't been! ANYWAY... Here's a little interview done by Daria at Boutique Cafe last fall at the Houston Quilt Market, which just barely got posted on the Boutique Cafe site. She first interviewed Chelsea, and then me. I must say that I really do not enjoy watching this at all, and I hesitated putting it up, but I didn't want to offend Daria, who was so gracious to do the interview. I just feel like it's not really me, and I don't really talk like that, and I don't feel normal about it at all. So sorry if I come across as not very happy...I think I was really nervous!

Oh well...'nuff said!
Oh, and one other thing. Remember all the posts about the birds, and the eggs? Well I had to throw out all of the eggs because they never hatched, and went rotten, and the mother bird was a total flake! Well, she laid another clutch of 6 eggs, and one has hatched so far! Only problem is, as soon as the egg hatched, the mom took off, and wouldn't take care of the baby, and it died!!! (sniff!) All of this drama is killing me! I just hope some more eggs hatch, even though the mom is outta- there. I'm going to have to put her in a support group for neglectful teenage moms or something. I'm so disappointed in her!

I hope someone out there can give me some advise on how to save the babies. Anyone? Anyone at all??? Do I need a surrogate bird-mom? Help!

Have a great week!
Lila

I remember (from my childhood) my mother putting an orphan egg into the oven (on low temp) but, it was close to hatching! In awe, I watched her pick away at the shell to find a cute (and very healthy) little chick!

awww. poor birdies.
the only thing you can do is find some garden worms and chop them to bits and feed the baby birdies.
{i know...sounds yuck-o but it'll help them live.}

First off, I just watched the interview and you were great.
Now the birds, growing up we had baby birds fall down the chimmey, just about every year and only one year did my Dad save them and he tried really hard. It's not an easy thing. Good luck.

Reading about your birds is so sad:( But I have to tell you that we just finished a fun quilt using your Woodland Bloom material. We entered it into HMQS in the theme category so if you happen to go up there this year check it out! Or look at it on my quilting blog! www.piecenquilt.blogspot.com

I forgot to ask you, what pattern is the apron you are wearing in the interview? It's the cutest apron!

Call you local animal control center and ask for any local agencies that could give you any resources or advice.

What about a heat lamp for the mommy-less eggs? That may keep them warm enough so they could hatch... I'm sure that they would have them at a country/livestock store (like the farmer's supply store). Good luck with those babies!
