I just can't bear it. I mean, I'm really glad to have the kids in school, and out from under my feet, but I can't start thinking about fall...not just yet! Does the return of school have to mean the end of this?
Or this???
Or what about this??? (please no!)
Don't get me wrong...normally I love fall, when it comes. But when I went into the fabric store the other day and saw pumpkins and scarecrows and fall wreaths and garlands everywhere, and I found myself wandering in a fog of deep oranges, golds and browns, I sort of freaked out! I'm just not ready! I still want to wear flip-flops and cut-offs. I still want to feel the warm breeze and smell the chlorine in my kid's hair. I can't go near a bowl of soup, I feel a little queezy when I think of pumpkin anything, I still want to barbeque everything in sight, the thought of hauling out my fall door wreath has me nauseous, and PLEASE...Do not talk to me about what you want to be for Halloween.
Does anyone out there feel my pain???

I am just coming off winter and awaiting Summer. I like winter as I can be warm all the time with heaters beanines and scarves.
Summer is just great but the sunburn and the sand.......let me have winter please.
Andrea
Yes, the summer, here, is bittersweet. I long for a bit of routine in our lives and an end to the bickering between the kids, but I love summer heat, love summer foods, love sitting in the sun. Not quite ready to stick on shoes and long pants (though I hope it will be a while).
I almost cried a couple of weeks ago when I walked into the store and the Halloween stuff was out. I am holding on to summer as long as I can. I'm not going into colder weather without a fight! :)
As our middle child left this morning attired in jeans and T-shirt, closed in shoes (what happened to the flip flops she's been wearing since April?) I shook my head as the weatherman was predicting temps in the 90s!!!! I totally agree with you - pls don't talk to me about fall until early October!!!! I'm missing the kidlets already... :(
I share your pain!!! We haven't had much of a summer here, I'm still waiting for it! I'm so NOT ready to see fall decor and halloween gobbly gook in the stores! I'm not ready to retire my flip flops. I'm longing for lemonade on the front porch still, and quiet evenings on the back patio. A dip in the pool. Not trick or treating decor, and stew in the crock pot. Ugh.
Hi Lila
Well I'm soory to say But it's our turn now.. here in Aussie Land and we CAN"T wait, yes the barbies.. (not the doll variety), salads and fresh fruit right off our orchard. Tennis on Saturday mornings and after dinner strolls on a balmy night and most of all NO more donas., Bring it on.. Lila your welcome to come for a holiday.
Pina:)
I feel your pain. And i had the same feeling when i went into our fabric store. Its not that i was disgusted with the halloween prints at all - i do like it. BUT it was a reminder that my summer was ending!! I'm someone who grew up with sunshine all year long (Hawaii), and now that I'm living in OR - my months are spent in jeans, sweaters, and shoes... lol
Spring is in the air over here in OZ Lila & I truly cannot wait to see the first Flowering Blossom Trees & Foals on the ground... Goodbye Winter Blues...
Oh I totally know what you mean. I feel the same way. Let the fall come gently. Please and let the transition from summer to fall be long and sweet.
Yes, I am not ready for the pumpkin weather yet, even though the color of the leaves are my favorite! If only we suspend some of our most favorite moments for a little....hehehehe.... Both highschoolers are in school today and it is quiet around here. College girl is a quiet person and will stay in the room with me playing her music and working on her laptop....she will be gone this weekend, back to college. I am sooooo proud of them.....and am sooooo looking forward to the days of solitude and sewing!!!! lol.... oh by the way....have you seen the Christmas stuff yet? It is here already in some stores...goodness!!!!
Pam
Lila, I love fall and even got out my fall bag that you made. I am sad that I only kept a winter and a fall bag. I thought you would continue making them,so I gave the rest away to friends and family. If you ever get in the mood to make more I will buy them. It was so fun to go out with you and Hal a few days ago. You are one of our favorite couples to hang with. it make me feel younger being with the young. You two are a great example of loving and caring parents. We love you and appreciate you.
Yes, I've started the slide into my annual depression that hits this time of year. I can't bear to put on long pants or see the daylight hours waning. Or think about no more camping and parking the scooter. Deep sigh . . .
Hey, do you think Andrea (first comment) would let us all come live with her in that other hemisphere?! :)
That is a FABULOUS idea! Andrea, are you game? I won't be much of a bother, me and all my depressed friends, we'll just show up at mealtime, and maybe to take a shower.Oh, and to sleep. Other than that we will just be outdoors enjoying an extended summer vacation in your part of the world.
How's that sound???
Lila
