PEASANT BLOUSE: Sizing Questions Answered

MY SEWING ROOM (on a good day)

O.K Here goes:
In answer to the questions I have received on the Peasant Blouse sizing, I have decided to make a size chart for you, so you will know what pattern size to trace.

When developing this pattern, I could only afford to make it in three sizes. I didn't mean to exclude anyone by doing this, but I had no choice. I have decided to see about grading it into more sizes as soon as I can. However, you can tailor the pattern to fit a larger size by adding width to the sides of the pattern pieces.

The pattern currently comes with 3 sizes to choose from: 8, 10, and 12.
They are based on commercial pattern sizes, not retail clothing sizes, like the ones you buy from a department store.

Here are the measurements listed for the three sizes on commercial pattern envelopes:

Size 8: Bust: 31 1/2"
Waist: 24"
Hip: 32 1/2"

size 10: Bust: 32 1/2"
Waist: 25"
Hip: 34 1/2"

size 12: Bust: 34"
Waist: 26 1/2"
Hip: 36"

In my experience, the sizes run a little larger than the body measurements given that they are to fit. In other words, my actual measurements would put me in a size 12, but the size 8 pattern fits me perfectly. So if your bust, waist or hip measurement is 2" or even 3" larger than what is stated on the largest size, don't fret! There are a few inches of "give" built in to the pattern to accommodate those differences. I know...it's really confusing! If in doubt, go up a size, if possible. Or, as stated above, just cut it out a little wider than shown. You can always take it in.

I hope this is helpful, and again I apologize for not being able to make the pattern in more sizes.

I'll be happy to answer them!
